Buzz Out Loud 1548: Carol Bartz? Unprofessional? Say it ain't effin' so. (Podcast)

The Yahoo aftershocks continue as Carol Bartz gives an angry, expletive-filled interview to Fortune and employees give Jerry Yang an angry, expletive-filled earful at an all-hands meeting where Yahoo tries to explain what comes next. Also, Apple upholds its reputation as a silent impenetrable fortress that doesn't care much for your security, by failing to patch Safari against fraudulent Web certificates and not saying a dang thing about it.

Hey BOL,

I was a bit confused about your Netflix story on 1547. I have only ever had streaming only and have been getting this message for YEARS! Whenever my laptop caches something incorrectly, it fools Netflix into thinking there are two sessions and I have to restart Silverlight or sometimes Chome. I was under the impression that only one session was allowed for streaming only plans (though this also happened early on when leeching my parents’ disk plan for online streaming).

That is all, love the show, sad about weekly :-( Jimmy the Microbiologist
Same for me, I’ve only ever had streaming only. If my husband is watching Netflix on the TV I cannot watch on desktop or laptop. And we are both watching TV shows not movies. gknee

Hi Molly and Brian,

I watched the video about the Droid Bionic today on CNet and halfway through I was already jumping in my seat kicking my legs. It is everything I ever wanted in a smartphone and so much more! This is finally a high-end phone that got it right all together with the sleek design, nice screen, dual-core processors and 4G, plus all those crazy accessories. And thank you Motorola for realizing people have their own monitors and laptops by making the $30 monitor adapter instead of making us pay $350+ for that fake laptop. Just like Molly, I have the Droid X and I can safely say that other than the obvious Droid X2, this is finally the new best Verizon phone that provides all the features I would ever need. Now I just wish Iowa would get 4G before my upgrade date at the end of the month!

Love the show,

Danny from Des Moines

Buzz Out Loud,

I would hold off on the Droid Bionic if you are concerned with camera performance (the video uploads from the device on YouTube do not look impressive), and wait for the Nexus Prime on Verizon around November-December. Nothing has been officially confirmed, but a model number for a new Samsung smartphone has shown up (SCH 1515) and Eric Schmidt confirmed Ice Cream Sandwich will be released around October-November. You also won’t have to worry about unreliable Verizon/Motorola updates. If you can not wait that long, the HTC Vigor should also be releasing on Verizon around October 5th, as per this leaked road map (which has been fairly accurate so far): http://gear.ign.com/articles/118/1185976p1.html

From,

Stephen

Hey Buzz Crew-

Just got this email from RIM (because I’m a stubborn BlackBerry user!). Current BB owners can get a $100 check card when they buy a PlayBook any time in the next two weeks. Is this a clever ploy to become competitive or a desperate move? I’m not sure.

hi guys,
I’m writing in response to Wednesdays episode when you said all that stuff about youtube. i have found that youtube is much more entertaining than mainstream or “”real”" media. Have you ever seen Freddie W or corridor digital? they make awesome videos! of course as a 13 year old my opinion is probably quite different from yours, but still, i think you guys should be nicer to youtube

Sincerely,

Aspiring Youtube Partner
Tillman

P.S. thanks for the macbook pro case Brian!
