Buzz Out Loud 1542: The spin on the HP spin-off (Podcast)

The cast of Buzz Out Loud has a message for HP that we hope they'll hear: guys. Seriously. Please stop talking. Don't tell the press you may or may not spin off your PC unit if you can figure out what that would mean for the company, and don't let the EVP of the PC business say HP might get back into tablets. I mean, how hard is that, really? Plus, Wikileaks springs a major leak, and Beyonce's baby pwns Twitter.

I think that a Samsung purchase of WebOS would be a great idea. The biggest problem with WebOS was the crummy quality of the hardware that the software was on. Samsung can make great hardware for the WebOS platform.

Further the sell off of Touchpads has vastly improved WebOS exposure and introduced potential new consumers.

Finally Android fragmentation is getting steadily worse.

Do it Samsung, cause you actually know how to build mobile hardware.
Consider webOS on Galaxy Class Hardware. (no pun intended)

Hey buzz crew,
This is Josh from Louisiana, swampgeek in the chatroom. B. Tong mentioned me watching you guys on the flatscreen in yesterday pre-show, figured I would give you the details of my cord cutting experience.
I am using an antenna to grab local digital and HD channels, and a 4 year old computer tower upgraded to Windows 7 all into a cheap 32inch LED from best buy. Windows Media Center is probably one of the best looking interfaces out there and is already integrated with my content on the computer plus they added internet TV into the interface.
The best part is my remote, using an Android powered Viewsonic GTablet I found a free app and software combo called unified remote on the Android market. Let’s me use the tablet or my phone as a mouse, keyboard and Windows media center remote.
Overall it works well, is easy enough to use that even my wife doesn’t mind and I can have some fun tech on a dad’s budget.
Love the show!
Oh and shout out to Stephen, production quality on the show is at a new level since you have came on.

Hey Buzz Crew,

There’s been a lot of talk about Sprint getting the next iPhone this year, which will be great for them. But with nearly every report, I hear basically a disclaimer of “”This will probably end their unlimited data plan”". And I don’t know why. At this point, truly unlimited data is all Sprint has left. They’d be better off not getting the iPhone and keeping unlimited plans at that point.

When you look it, it wasn’t the iPhone that ended unlimited data, it was smartphones being popular in general, and a Nielsen report showed that Android phones (aka almost all of Sprint’s lineup) use more data anyway (link: http://blog.nielsen.com/nielsenwire/?p=27793). Sorry to call you guys out, but at least you’re not alone. The entire tech media sphere has been doing it to, and every time I feel like I’m taking crazy pills.

Love the showmance,
Travis

Hey Molly, Brian, and Steven

I remember watching the news and it was talking about a new social networking platform that is going to be launched soon called “”UNTHINK”". They are marketed as a social media revolution. The whole purpose of UNTHINK is to give its users absolute freedom unlike Facebook who they call a “”cyber dictatorship”". I wanted to see what your thoughts are on this. I’m posting with this email a video of them from youtube where they insult Google+ and Facebook.

P.S. Love the show!
