“This is Peter from prospect heights, IL. I’m responding to the AT&T employee who stated they do not cut off service for people who reach the cap. They actually start charging overage fees. Some people have stated around $10 per 50gb of data. It may not seem that much, until you watch a lot of streaming movies online.

“Hey Buzz Crew,

Now, I’m a dude, so I may not come off as the greatest authority, but
hear me out.

You shouldn’t be so surprised that 3 girls won the Google science fair
with bioscience projects. Among people my age (I’m a 3rd year Ph.D.
student in microbio), women tend to be the dominant gender in the
biosciences. The problem isn’t interesting girls in pursuing biology,
the problem is enticing them to use their degrees and make careers of
it. There is a much higher drop-off for women than for men in the “”got
a degree and then USED it”" category. I won’t go into the suggested
explanations for this phenomenon, but it all points away from the “”girls
just don’t like math/science”" hypothesis.

It’s cool that young people of both genders are becoming interested in
the sciences, but there are real issues in the workplace that are
pushing people away (especially women). I’d hate for us to attract even
more people to a field that still needs professional reform.

Love the show,
Jimmy the Microbiologist”

“Hey BOL,

This is in reference to something you guys talked about like two months back about new sensors in cellphone cameras that prevented concert goers from recording the show. I went to a rap concert in Detroit just this past Saturday and the venue would turn on water sprinkers to mist the crowd (not the kind for a fire). I know you would might think it was to prevent people from dehydration but it seemed like they would only come on in areas where people would be filming and when people would put the phones away the water would stop.

The reason im putting these two things together is (a)this is at a medium sized venue that charged $7 for a bottle of water so that kinda kills the good faith aspect and (b) the artist, multiple signs in the lobby, and announcements from the MC all stressed the please do not record our show. So idk take from what angle you want but you could see some kind of connection.

Love the show, very long time listener.

Alexander Adam”

“Hey guys,

Thanks for the Spotify invite! I did do a search for that Cars cover and came up with nada. Yet I found it in Tiny Shark (Groove Sharks mobile app). So it seems that Spotify still has some catching up to do.

Thanks again,

Emily
