Buzz Out Loud 1503: FTC needs to put that probe somewhere else (Podcast)

Today on Buzz Out Loud, we preview tomorrow's "awesome" Facebook announcement -- and we hope it's not just Skype integration. Microsoft is getting in bed with Baidu in China, but Cisco is getting in a much dirtier bed with China's government, helping build a massive surveillance system that we're sure will just be used to hand out traffic tickets. Plus, is #antisec officially in a world of hurt? We'll see.

EMAILS

Hey Buzz Crew!

I wanted to email you regarding Brian’s previous comment about Google+ invites from episode 1500 (or 1502 depending on how you look at it). Brian made a comment about Google+ invites on ebay being a scam because the invite mechanism was disabled within Google+. However, it turns out that it is false. My girlfriend, who is a social networking Queen, decided to spend the money to be invited. Within 10 minutes of the purchase, she had an email from the seller with the invite link. It turns out that, in order to receive the invite, you need to send the invitation to a gmail account. I am not exactly sure how that affects the invite, but it appeared to work. Ultimately, my girlfriend is busy setting up her circles and I am left amazed by the power and draw of social networks. Absolutely love the show! 2000 episodes, here we come.

Passing along some information that may help Ms. Wood. My daughter has a DROID X also with the Gingerbread update. Her phone acted crazy as everyone else’s did. On June 28, 2011 she called Verizon to complain and they did a total reset with her and the phone has been working great since then. You will have to download your apps again, but she feel she has her phone back.

Just wanted to pass along this tip. Good luck

BUZZ CREW,

Carlton here, and I was splitting my sides laughing at your reaction to my audio message on text reflow! Thanks for sharing that on the show, and for your thoughts. Yeah, text reflow really isn’t #1 on the things that suck (that are missing) on the iPhone. HOWEVER, as simple as a fix that this could be, it makes it #1 because it torments me that they could solve this issue in all of 5 minutes!!! LOL

As per usual, I love the show, you all are the absolute best and there is no other tech podcast that I will listen to before BOL.

I’ll be back (in my best radio voice)…

Carlton
