Buzz Out Loud 1436: Think before you Color (Podcast)

We're thrilled about Amazon's new Cloud Drive and Cloud Player, but the record labels might not be -- so good for them for potentially forcing that anti-consumer claptrap out into the open. Also, we might complain a lot about our Internet issues, but at least we don't live in Canada. Plus, the Color hack you knew was coming, and our official advice: don't use it. Plus, can the hypnotizing baby blues of Jack Dorsey turn the Twitter ship around? We'll see. --Molly

My wife and I were messing around with that new app COLOR on our iPhones tonight, here at our house.
I took and posted a photo of her that’s somewhat adult… that’s when we discovered the COLOR app has no undo, no delete, no way to flag something as inappropriate.
So this photo is now forever part of the color network ether & tied to our house. Will our guests all see it if they come over and fire up the COLOR app? can our neighbors see it?

Buzz Out Loud,

On Thursday’s show while discussing Apple’s TV integration plans, Molly mentioned that this would be the final nail in the coffin for Google TV.
I disagree. I think that once Android apps become available on Google TV this spring that we’ll see Google TV really take off, putting a better product in the hands of customers before Apple’s plans see the light of day. If Google does a big marketing push and releases 2nd gen Google TV devices to coincide with the launch of Android apps, then they could easily overtake Apple in the living room.
I like options, and Apple simple doesn’t provide that. Amazon, Apple, and Google are all working on cloud digital locker services. I fully expect Google to allow you to access Amazon’s service in addition to their own. Do you think Apple is going to allow anything but their own service? Do you really want to pay Apple’s outrageous prices for online storage?
My hope is that Logitech will come out with a 2nd gen Revue with a blu-ray player built in. That, in addition to the video conferencing available for the Revue would be huge!

What are your thoughts?

Love the show!

Dear Buzz Crew,

My wife and I just passed two year contract date with Verizon for our Blackberry phones (she has a Pearl flip (that is almost useless now) and I have a Storm). We are pretty set on the iPhone for our next phone and will be staying with Verizon. I thought we could make it until July or so waiting for the iPhone 5, but Apple’s news about WWDC has me wondering. Should we wait for the iPhone 5 to come out or just go with the 4?
Thanks for all the great shows.
