Buzz Out Loud 1401: Fail! Fail! Fail! (podcast)

On today's show, I tee off a little bit on Internet haters who just can't let it go ... in a way that might seem to suggest I can't let it go. Hm. Anyway, in tech news proper, Apple shareholders demand a succession plan, Verizon users demand their iPhone 4s, and AT&T demands $499 and a two-year contract for people who want an Atrix 4G with the laptop dock. Plus: Computer Love! Aloha, everyone! --Molly

Hi Buzz crew,

Just as an FYI, most people don’t understand that the decision to overturn the Usaged Based Billing decision does not affect most Canadian retail customers. Anyone who is on Rogers, Bell, Shaw, or Telus that has capped plans will *still* have capped plans, usually in the 50-60GB/month range. This decision only affects smaller ISP’s who lease space on Bell’s network and resells that.

There has been a lot of confusion about this, and many people in Canada thought that this meant that the caps were going away for everyone. This is not the case and while this is a good first step, it is still only the first step in fighting the unreasonably low data caps the majority of customers face here in Canada.

I guess we can finally say brian was wrong, once.i can state for a fact that for smart phones on the sprint network 3g and 4g data is unlimited, and un-throttled, even when using the hotspot.as a bonus even with the unlimited data sprint’s rate plans are still cheaper than vzw and at&t!

Anyway, love the show!

COMPUTER LOVE

Buzzards,

I need help. My wife hates jewelry, flowers, and candy and is impossible to buy for on Valentine’s day. Inspired by Molly’s story of the affordability of the Dash, I was going to get her that–until I heard that Molly then hated it. So what else can I get her? She is very tech savvy, though we don’t have many tech-toys in our home. I don’t want to spend more than $200. I was considering

A Dash
A Kindle (or a nook)
Something for her iPhone 4…

Or anything else. I need help. Please Buzzards, help me make this valentine’s day the best ever.

Thanks for reading,

Hey Buzz crew,

My wonderful girlfriend and I have been together for nearly a year, but unfortunately, we have had to deal with a long distance relationship since we go to different colleges, and can only see each other every-so-often in person. We have resorted to having “”virtual dates”" on the weekends over skype. We will both watch the same movie (the magic of Amazon and netflix streaming!) and talk as if we were together, or “”have dinner”" and talk over skype.
I was hoping that you guys might have some good ideas for other “”virtual dates”" that we can use to stay connected via the magic of the internet.

Thanks!
~Matthew the ECE (mbaron in the chatroom)
