Buzz Out Loud 1394: Our new name for product reviews: Touch My Body (podcast)

The DOJ is sniffing around again on the topic of mandatory data retention for ISPs: our advice? If this is their canary in the coal mine, kill the canary. Not cool. Also, will the Facebook phone be huge? I say yes, Tong is skeptical. Android developer interest is nearly equal to their interest in iOS, plenty of Android tablet news, and I give the Sony Dash the full Touch My Body. --Molly

Hi buzz crew

After you talked about the fact that over 2/3′s of americans lack being “”Scientifically Literate”" I did some research on Canada, and was SHOCKED with the answer
http://www.thestar.com/sciencetech/article/213276
Less than 1/3 of canadians, approximately 20% are considered scientically literate and able to carry on a conversation about trending science, but I guess anything science related wont be trending much longer since about 80% of us can’t understand it :( sadness
So I guess this is more of a North American problem and our education systems are really failing us

Molly,

I loved your rant on education in episode 1393. I recently read some disturbing information about college:

The research of more than 2,300 undergraduates found 45 percent of students show no significant improvement in the key measures of critical thinking, complex reasoning and writing by the end of their sophomore years.
….
Overall, the picture doesn’t brighten much over four years. After four years, 36 percent of students did not demonstrate significant improvement.

You guys are starting to freak me out and question my decision for an iPhone 4. O.K. I get it. AT&T customers should not get a Verizon iPhone now because the iPhone 5 is coming. But I’ve been a Verizon Customer for many many years and I’m a mac guy, who’s sick of carrying an ipod touch and a cellphone. The iPhone 4 has been tested in the network for 8 months and it’s probably going to be a pretty solid phone. The iPhone 5 is not guaranteed to be on Verizon. 4G is not everywhere and a new technology to both apple and Verizon. Why not get an iPhone 4 on Verizon now and in 20 to 24 months look for the iPhone 6 that should be a solid phone on a solid wide-spread 4G network?
Thanks, Love the Show.
