Actually, humans have been creating antimatter since 1955. What the CERN ALPHA team did was discover how to trap antimatter long enough for direct observation.

Don’t look for antimatter to become a common fuel any time soon. Even with today’s best technology, it would still take about 100 *billion* years to produce just 1 gram of anti-hydrogen.
