At the moment, most of the pages display a watch-this-space message, but when the app is fully live, users will be able to purchase tickets using a credit card. A barcode will then be sent to the phone, which will be scanned at the door.

You'll also be able to view programs, browse a daily "What's on", watch film trailers, find locations and read news. In other words, it's a one-stop mobile guide to the festival.

Australia seems to be far behind in the event-specific app department — hopefully this is a step in the right direction.
