When you run a car company with only one model, and that one is over five years old, you should really think about expanding your portfolio. As hinted last year , Bugatti will produce a successor to its Veyron supercar.

Car and Driver translated an article from German magazine Auto Motor und Sport, which has Bugatti CEO Wolfgang Durheimer confirming the new vehicle. Based on the 16 C Galibier concept previously shown, the new car will be a big sedan with a rounded body and rear hatch similar to the Porsche Panamera.

Aluminum and carbon fiber will keep body weight down, but it will still feature a 16-cylinder engine. Durheimer also says Bugatti will produce a hybrid version of the vehicle with an electric range of 25 miles.

The new Bugatti sedan will go on sale in late 2012, for a price of $1.4 million.
