<b>SpaceSaver bug after compressing applications confirmed by Aladdin

Tom Diana encountered a problem with the latest StuffIt SpaceSaver 4.5.1 Update. In particular, "the icon for any application compressed by SpaceSaver becomes generic. This can't be undone even if the desktop is rebuilt. If you try to open a document whose icon has turned generic, you get a message saying that the parent application can't be found. The only remedy is to first uncompress the parent application and then rebuild the desktop.

He contacted Aladdin about this and they replied: "We are currently investigating this problem. It seems to occur when applications are SpaceSaver compressed. Until a fix is available, I would recommend keeping your applications not-compressed. Then rebuild your desktop."

Update: To be clear: It is only necessary to uncompress the parent application to fix this glitch. The application's documents can remain compressed. (Thanks, Christi Hembree, of Aladdin.)
