Brilliant Samsung vacuum cleaner ad sucks
Just as you think an ad for the Samsung vacuum cleaner is rolling through, it gets sucked right back into view.
Some ads, as the vernacular has it, suck.
Wait, make that many ads.
Here, however, is an ad that sucks in the very best possible way.
The concept is blindingly simple. Put your Samsung vacuum cleaner on top of a billboard. Let the billboard roll down to expose the next one.
And then suck it back up.
This quite marvelous little thing was constructed in Holland.
And, as its creators say, vacuum cleaners aren't exactly the most exciting of products.
But the neat way in which this was rigged, together with the perfect vacuum cleaner sound as the ad is sucked back up into the middle of the billboard, makes it an intelligent delight.
The headline, which reads "Extreme Suction Power," offers everything you need to know about the product. The execution, though, tells you everything you need to know about the imagination that went into it.
And there's one thing of which you can be very, very confident. Samsung didn't copy the design of this no doubt very fine vacuum cleaner from Apple.
Just as I wrote that last line, I remembered this headline: "Dyson accuses Samsung of ripping off its vacuum cleaners."
Oh. But I'm sure it wasn't this vacuum cleaner. Was it?
