Boxx Technologies, which specializes in workstations and servers for the entertainment and media industry, released dual processor workstations featuring the Opteron chip from Advanced Micro Devices. The workstations start at $2,585 and are optimized for running Houdini and other 3D applications. The workstations come with 240, 242, or 244 Opteron chips and the Nvidia Quadro graphics chip. Although small, Austin, Texas-based Boxx Technologies has seen its workstation used in such movies as "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" and "Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius."
