Boot Camp Beta 1.0.2 (#4): Improvement of keyboard function

We previously noted that Boot Camp Beta 1.0.2 resolves a time synchronization bug (for some users) where Windows XP's clock is persistently running 7 hours ahead at startup. Users now note other improvements.

One MacFixIt reader reports an improvement in keyboard functionality for a Mac mini running Boot Camp 1.0.2.

"I purchased a Mac Mini solo for some simple PC server duty using Boot Camp. I don't know if others had similar experience with non-Apple keyboards but with the original Boot Camp Beta release I was a bit frustrated getting the PC keyboard ALT key (Option on Apple keyboards) boot function to present the OS choices screen at boot. On most of my PC keyboards the ALT key simply wasn't recognized at boot and the last used OS would start the Mini up. I was wondering if the new Boot Camp Beta would fix this issue, I burned a new Beta 2 drivers CD and ran the package - Voila! The ALT key works at boot!"

As a reminder, this update includes revised versions of the Windows XP Mac drivers, so you should burn a new drivers disk (using Boot Camp Assistant) after installing the Boot Camp update, then boot into Windows XP and re-install drivers.

Alternatively, you can avoid re-burning a drivers CD if you have an external hard drive by following these instructions.
