Blurry/fuzzy projector output (#2): Try changing refresh rate

Continuing coverage of blurry or fuzzy projector output -- changing the refresh rate helps in some cases.

CNET staff

Yesterday we reported on an issue with blurry or fuzzy output when using digital projectors -- usually the result of a mismatch in the resolution of the host Mac's video output and that used by the digital projector.

Potential fix

It now appears that changing the refresh rate for the digital projector -- in the Displays pane of System Preferences -- can have a beneficial effect on unclear output.

One reader writes:

"I had a problem with fuzzy output using a Dell projector with my 12" powerbook G4. Changing the refresh rate had a huge impact on image clarity--even at the same resolution. I used the ColorSync options in the Display preferences to get the basic setting, then tried the different refresh rates to get the best picture. Switching from the default 60hz to 85 hz was like night and day in terms of image clarity."
