BlueLight.com no longer Mac-accessible

One of the few remaining free internet services, www.bluelight.com, has dropped Mac support. As we noted previously, (see one and two) it was only a matter of time. Daniel Smith reports that he had been using the service successfully until recently, when it began dropping calls, crashing, and finally stopped working altogether. He discovered the following notice posted on their Web site:

"We no longer offer or support a Macintosh version of our Internet software. If you happen to have an old version of our software that was Mac-compatible, it may continue to let you connect to our Internet service for some period of time. But as we will not be able to offer upgrades, fix bugs, or provide any technical support for the Mac software, we strongly recommend that our Mac users find another Internet service provider."

Evidently "some period of time" is up, at least for some users. We suspect, but have not confirmed, that some users are still able to connect. But probably not for long.
