After checking outvarious booths in the Exhibit Halls, here are some personal highlights:

Aladdin Aladdin said to expect a Mac OS 8 compatible update to StuffIt Deluxe within about 60 days. They also said that the problem with CyberFinder is similar to the StuffIt problem. As a result, they are now likely to update CyberFinder at the same time. I also had a preview look at Aladdin's new FlashBack utility for saving previous versions of documents that would otherwise be lost when you hit the "Save" button after revising a document. Could be a life-saver for those times you really did not mean to save.

Connectix Expect the RAM Doubler 2 bug-fix update for Mac OS 8 to be out by the end of August. Speed Doubler 8 is being previewed at the show. It should be out by September. It adds several new features, beyond simply making it Mac OS 8 compatible. You will now be able to schedule copies and synchronizations. It also an ability to access menu commands and dialog box choices from the keyboard - as an alternative to using the mouse/trackpad. You can also directly assign keys to open applications or paste a block of text.

Claris ClarisWorks Office is being shown as is FileMaker Pro 4. Both applications now allow multimedia fields in database records. And both add new Internet features. The most impressive was FileMaker Pro's ability to create web pages on the fly (if the program is on the machine serving the web site) when a user calls up the relevant web URL. It can create a web page with forms, Java applets and database access.
