Quake Champions, a new Prey and Fallout 4 VR: Everything Bethesda announced at E3 2016
At Bethesda's E3 2016 showcase, we heard about a new Quake, a new Prey, VR support coming to Fallout 4 and the first long look at Dishonored 2.
"Yes, Quake is back."
With these words, Bethesda kicked off its E3 2016 showcase with a trailer for a new Quake game, Quake Champions.
"Yes, Quake is back."
Quake Champions: A competitive arena-style PC shooter. As part of the announcement Bethesda said it will be expanding the global e-sport support for Quake beyond its own Quakecon, and will announce more in August. The game aims to run with unlocked framerates so you can throw as much hardware at it as you want to, but to also be fun for people who aren't the hardest of the cores when it comes to shooters.
Elder Scrolls Legends: The new Elder Scrolls Legends strategy card game was also given a closer look. The free-to-play game will have single player and multiplayer modes and it will be available across PC, and Android and iOS devices later this year.
A vacation at Nuke-Cola theme park? It's the final content expansion for Fallout 4 and it's coming in August!
Fallout 4: In the world of Fallout a few upcoming feature additions were previewed, like sorting machines, contraption systems and even running your own Vault. Plus a look at a Nuka-World theme park expansion coming in August.
Also new features heading to the tablet game Fallout Shelter.
Skyrim Special Edition: Bethesda also showed off some of the graphics you can expect from the upcoming Skyrim Special Edition for PS4 and Xbox One. The new look is incredibly impressive with all new water and lighting models, plus more, to take advantage of the power of the latest consoles.
A new Prey was announced. The trailer suggested the game is one giant "Groundhog Day" space horror romp.
Prey: A new Prey title was also announced by Arkane Studios, the trailer suggesting something akin to a space horror version of "Groundhog Day".
Doom: For those who haven't tried out the new Doom yet, it was announced that for the next week the first level of the game will be available for free. The Doom team said it was a nod to the shareware era the original game comes from.
The Elder Scrolls Online: The Elder Scrolls Online fans got a look at the about to release Dark Brotherhood content expansion, but there was also an announcement of a new "One Tamriel" update that allows players to explore the entire world regardless of level, with characters scaling in power to suit their group or their zone. The developers claim it is a first for MMOs.
Bethesda announced it would be showing off VR experiences for Doom and Fallout at E3 2016 and confirmed Fallout 4 for VR in 2017.
Bethesda VR: A further surprise was Bethesda VR news, with previews available to those attending the showcase event showing both Doom and Fallout 4 in VR. Fallout 4 was specifically announced as becoming available for HTC Vive in 2017.
Dishonored 2: Closing out the show was news of Dishonored 2, which was announced at last year's Bethesda E3 showcase. This year we got to see the first real in-game environments, gameplay and character abilities with some details on the game's setting 15 years after the events of the original. The game is looking gorgeous.
