Best EOFY sales for 2012

June has crept up on us once again — our favourite time of year to grab some end of financial year (EOFY) bargains, as retailers everywhere prepare for stocktake. Here are some of the best sales around for 2012.

Big Brown Box

Big Brown Box is a great place to get bargains on home entertainment, whether there's a sale on or not. Its EOFY sale is small, but if you're in the market for a new telly, there are some good finds here — such as AU$700 off the Samsung PS64E8000 Series 8 64-inch full HD 3D plasma TV, or AU$1222 off the Sharp LC60LE835X 60-inch 3D Quattron full HD LED TV. There are a few Blu-ray players and iPod docks to check out, too.

Appliances Online

Big Brown Box's sister site Appliances Online is having a much more comprehensive sale. It covers pretty much everything, from coffee machines to vacuum cleaners to washing machines to fridges. Smaller kitchen appliances are sadly underrepresented, though.

GAME

This technically isn't an EOFY sale, but it's happening now, so you may as well check it out. GAME is offering 40 per cent off selected titles storewide, but stock is running out fast, and many titles are now only available in-store. You'd better get in quick if you want to nab a deal.

Logitech

As we reported last week, Logitech Shop is having a massive EOFY sale on accessories, including keyboards, gaming accessories and speaker systems. Saddle up!

Dell

If Dell floats your boat, it's offering sales on its Inspiron and XPS laptops and desktops; the best deal on laptops was AU$700 of the XPS 15, which is down to AU$999 from AU$1699, and there are some great introductory prices on new desktop machines, including the XPS One 27.

Bing Lee

Because it has such a wide range of products across all categories, Bing Lee is a great place to snap up a gadget or two. The Nikon 1 J1, usually retailing for AU$899, is down to AU$627, and you can pick up an Asus or Acer laptop for AU$779 and AU$499, respectively. Appliances, TVs, sound systems and whitegoods are also up for grabs.

Lenovo

As well as slashed prices across its laptop and tablet ranges, Lenovo is offering 30 per cent off Microsoft Office with every ThinkPad purchase, 30 per cent off a 14-inch portable monitor with every ThinkPad X or T series purchase and a ThinkPad Basic case for AU$1 if you spend over AU$599 on any ThinkPad rig.

Sony

Sony's getting into the EOFY action as well, with prices cut across its Vaio laptop range. For instance, there's AU$1000 off the Vaio F136, and 15 per cent off the 14-inch Vaio E. You can also save 10 per cent on Vaio accessories, but you'll have to go into a Sony store to get them.

LatestBuy

Everyone likes a silly toy or two, and LatestBuy has a few good ones; we have to admit, though, that our impetus for adding it to the list was the AU$35.95 Air Swimmer. But the customisable pocket knife is pretty good, too...

The Good Guys

More appliances! If Appliances Online didn't have what you want, you might find it at the Good Guys, which has blenders, toasters and kettles galore, but you can also grab savings across whitegoods, home entertainment, printers, laptops, cameras and speaker systems.

Mobileciti

One category that has been mysteriously absent so far is smartphones. Mobileciti has a bunch of outright phone savings across HTC, Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Alcatel, BlackBerry and Motorola.

Techbuy

Techbuy is offering customers free Visa cards across a selection of Netgear products until the end of July, but, if that doesn't float your boat, there's plenty more to be had. In the hot specials section, the Samsung Galaxy Note can be found for an outright price of AU$769.55, and massive bargains can be found in its clearance stock section.

Foxtel

If you've been wary of signing up to Foxtel, now's the time to do it: as its EOFY offering for 2012, Foxtel is letting you sign up to any package with no lock-in contract — so, if it's not for you, you can duck out anytime you like.
