BenQ-Siemens has launched three new phones with smooth designs and great specs. They're so shiny you can see your face in them

Yesterday, BenQ-Siemens, the company that brought you the E61, EF81 and EL71, announced three new handsets -- the E71 (pictured left), E81 (middle) and SL91 (right). The new phones have a smooth, rounded design like many other BenQ-Siemens devices. After a bumpy start in the UK with the S88, which never hit the high street, it looks like BQS is getting into the groove and putting up a fight against the likes of Motorola, which has also just announced some new phones.

The E71 is a candybar handset with EDGE connectivity, a 1.3-megapixel camera, an expandable microSD slot, Bluetooth and a 'non-stick coating' -- although we'll believe that when we see it. It also comes with a desk stand that you can use to synchronise it with your PC and charge it.

The E81 is also a candybar with Bluetooth and an expandable memory slot. It also features 3G connectivity, with video calling capabilities.

Last is the SL91. We're impatient for this baby, like a parched commuter jonesing for an ice lolly. It looks like it could be BenQ-Siemens' best phone so far, featuring a slider form factor, 3G connectivity and a 3.2-megapixel camera with auto focus.

Like the E71 it has a desk stand, but other than that it's in a league of its own with those features. It also has Force Sensitive Resistor technology, which will activate the navigation keys on the front section of the phone when you touch it. We're not sure how well it'll work, but we'll let you know as soon as we test it.

The handsets should be available around Christmas time. For more information visit the BenQ-Siemens Web site. -AL
