<b>Empty Trash glitch in Mac OS 8

CNET staff
Over the past several weeks, I have gotten three separate reports of this same Mac OS 8 problem (clearly not all Mac OS 8 users have this problem!): When selecting to Empty Trash, the command fails with an error message that says that the files could not be deleted because they are either in use or being copied. However, they are neither. After this message appears, files cannot be added to nor removed from the Trash. In some cases, the Mac may appear to freeze. A Finder quit or a restart is needed to regain full control of the Mac.
