Belkin router needs firmware upgrade

Eric Westby purchased a Belkin 4-port broadband router for use with his DSL connection. He immediately had problems with his Internet connection being dropped every five minutes or so. He called Belkin tech support and was told that "this is a known issue, and that there is a beta firmware upgrade that will fix the problem, bringing the router's firmware from v.1.00 to v.1.12.001.d03(Beta Test Only)." They emailed Eric the file, which he could not get to install in OS X; he had to use Virtual PC. But after installing it, the symptoms vanished. Presumably, Belkin will post this on their web site when they have a release version ready.
