<b>Dr. Solomon's Anti-Virus Toolkit and desktop printers

CNET staff
Two readers (Martin Backlund and Tara Marchand) have now reported exactly the same problem. When using version 7.7.1 of Dr. Solomon's Anti-Virus Toolkit (specifically the MacGuard control panel), together with the Desktop Printing Extensions in Mac OS 7.6 (and perhaps Mac OS 8), a proliferation of bogus desktop printing icons will appear on your desktop whenever you try to print something (at least with the LaserWriter 8.4.2 driver). Versions of Doctor Solomon earlier than 7.7.1 appear not to have this problem.

Note: This is similar to a problem reported here on MacFixIt long ago - that was ultimately traced to an issue with the Finder Scripting Extension.
