HFS problems: another work-around Previously, we reported FWB's statement regarding an incompatibility between HFS and CD-ROM Toolkit. An informed reader offers an alternative work-around:

"You don't have to turn off the 'fast' option entirely. You can turn off the 'Static Disk Cache' Option in the Cache setup screen. That way you still have RAM caching and you don't lose all your performance. You'd also have to do this for any disks you use which have individual 'CDTCache' settings, as the Disk Cache setting for the individual CD takes precedence.

Also, if you have a normal HFS partition on your system you can use the 'Cache Location' menu item (on the ToolKit menu) to move the cache files to the normal HFS partition."

Philips PCA8OSC support We previously reported that CD-ROM Toolkit 3.0.1 no longer supports the Philips PCA8OSC drive because of problems that FWB had with the drive. A statement from FWB offers this clarification: "When we released the updater from version 3.0 to version 3.0.1, we made many fixes and added many new drives to the supported devices list. Unfortunately, the PCA80 was mistakenly removed. We will be posting an 'updated' updater shortly which will resolve this." (Thanks, Dave Kupiec.)
