Battlefield video game to mobilize, EA reports

The popular shooter sets its sights on smartphones and tablets.

Battlefield fans take note -- the popular shooter could soon be headed to your smartphone or tablet, according to publisher EA's mobile development boss.

EA's Frank Gibeau told The New York Times that the mobile version of Battlefield will be "high-end and high performance," going on to say, "It's our bet that we can successfully pull that off."

EA already owns several mobile games, most notably FIFA 14 and Real Racing 3. The gaming giant is also responsible for The Simpsons: Tapped Out and The Sims FreePlay.
