Regarding the recently reposted Apple Data Detectors 1.0.2:

Freeze at startup when logging on to a server Scott Schroeder writes: "The presence of the Apple Data Detector extension on a machine set to login via AppleShare to a remote server on startup causes a system freeze with Apple Data Detectors 1.0.2. This problem was also present on previous versions of ADD. The work-around is to change the extension loading order (i.e. rename the ADD extension to ~Apple Data Detectors Extension)."

Bob O'Shaughnessy had a similar problem. He isolated it to a conflict between Apple Data Detectors Extension (1.02) and the Ethernet (built-in) v2.02.

AuthMan startup freeze Mark Garrett claims there is an incompatibility between Apple Data Detectors 1.0.2 and the Kerberos Authentication Manager, also known as AuthMan (and used at University of Michigan, where he works). With ADD installed, the machine doesn't finish booting. After startup authentication, the machine freezes. With AuthMan extension disabled, ADD worked fine and visa-versa.

ADD not working? Simon Finch claims that the new Contextual Menu Enabler extension (v 1.0.3) does not work with UK versions of Mac OS 8. As a result, all ADD features get disabled after making the update. Not sure if this is the related issue or not, but I had a similar problem where, after installing the update, all Action files were disabled and ADD did nothing as a result. Deleting all ADD software and reinstalling the 1.0.2 version of ADD fixed the problem.

Good news On the plus side, several readers report that the Help menu bug (where Help menu items could not be selected with ADD installed) has been fixed.
