Rick Darenberg reports that Adobe Type Manager Deluxe 4.0.3 and Adobe Type Reunion 2.0.3 are out but Adobe won't be offering a patch on the web. As of now, you'll have to call Adobe (800-682-3623: option 2) to request the updates. [Note: ATM 4.0.3 has been out since late last year.]
Rick adds: "I've noticed much improved anti-aliasing with ATM 4.0.3, especially when the there's a colored background. The left column of MacWEEK's web site used to be unreadable with ATM 4.0. It's crystal clear now. ATR 2.0.3 fixed a crashing bug I was experiencing in Adobe PageMaker 6.5.x."
Update: the cost Michael Barsoom adds that the ATM update costs $19.95 and the ATR update costs $9.00.
Judo Sohn writes: "The Adobe representative told me that the only changes to ATM Deluxe for 4.0.3 is that it now supports Japanese and Portuguese language systems. They consider that an enhancement, so that's why it's not a free update. The only bug fix is that fonts do not have to be marked 'read-only' when opened across a network."
Adobe's policy as to what they charge for this update apparentlyvaries depending upon whom you speak to you and what you say. For example, one reader said that "Adobe informed me that, if I could not identify the isssues that were fixed by the "upgrade," I would have to pay." Indeed, other users have reported getting the updates for free.
