Aussie telcos Telstra, Optus, Vodafone and 3 Mobile have announced that they will offer dedicated Apple iPad plans for customers on the same day Apple asked its non-US customers to cool their heels a month in preparation for the tablet computer's international launch.
Vodafone Hutchinson Australia came first with the news, telling Delimiter that it will reveal dedicated pricing plans for iPad customers on both the Vodafone and 3 Mobile networks. Telstra and Optus have followed suit, with Telstra stating it will offer iPad plans "for all models from the end of May in Australia".
These statements do not include confirmations that any Australian carrier will yet stock the iPad, but fuel speculation that all four major carriers will sell the tablet computer considering the 3G network capability would require the carriers to produce a not-yet standard micro-SIM card.
Australians interested in buying an iPad, which had been expected to launch internationally at the end of April, will have to wait until the end of May due to what Apple has described as "surprisingly strong US success".
