ATI Rage 128 Update is out!!

Previously, we reported numerous problems attributed to the ATI Graphics Accelerator 3.7.9 extension (and possibly other components of the ATI software) for the new blue and white G3 Macs. We predicted some sort of update would be needed. Apparently, one is in the works.

Yesterday, an Apple TIL file was online that pointed to a ATI Rage 128 update. The TIL file is gone (as of this writing) and the update is not yet available.

Update: The ATI Rage Update is now out. "The files included in this update provide improved 2D and 3D acceleration for the ATI RAGE 128 graphic accelerator card shipping in the new Power Macintosh G3." All may not be well however. David Rosenfield writes: "The Update has virtually the same problem as the previous extension set. The cosmetics of the redraw problem are slightly different on my machine than before but the same app (Flash3) has basically the same problem."
