AT&T to deliver what's next in wireless on July 16

Though the carrier spilled few details, next week's developments should be about its LTE network.

AT&T added another date to the tech calendar today by teasing a big announcement scheduled for next week.

Details in the e-mailed announcement are slim -- we don't whether it will host an event or just send a press release -- but the carrier urges us to "Get ready for what's next in wireless" on next Tuesday, July 16.

Honestly, that could be just about anything, from a new phone to a new type of service plan, but a string of quotes at the bottom of the message offer a clue as to what the carrier might have up its sleeve. Pulled from different publications, the quotes credit AT&T with having the fastest 4G LTE network and the top performance for calls, tests, and data.

No, network enhancements don't make for the sexiest developments, but faster LTE and more of it would make a difference to consumers. Indeed, that's our best guess right now.

Whatever happens, we'll be there next week to deliver the news so come back to CNET for the full details.
