Obviously working from its partnership with Google on the Nexus 7, Asus has launched the MeMo — a 7-inch, lower-specced Android tablet that comes with an AU$199 price tag.
The MeMo — which, according to Asus, is pronounced "mee-mo" and stands for "my mobile my moment" somehow — has a 1024x600-resolution screen and a low-end ARM Cortex-A9 processor running at 1GHz.
The internal storage runs up to 16GB, but a microSD slot can support cards up to 32GB. It's Wi-Fi only, but comes in three colours: white, grey and pink.
At 196.2x119.2x11.2mm and 380g, it has a smaller surface than the iPad Mini, but it's thicker and heavier.
The MeMo will be available from March in leading retailers across Australia, including JB Hi Fi, Dick Smith and Bing Lee.
