Virex 5.9.1b1 fixes Last time, we mentioned that the new Virex 5.9.1b1 fixes the network file copy problem. Readers now report that it also fixed the previously mentioned Navigation Services freeze.

Virex 5.9 work-around Meanwhile, if you don't want to risk using a beta version of Virex, Aaron Ciesar reports a work-around for solving the network copy crashes with Virex 5.9 (I have not confirmed that it actually works):

Use Speed Doubler 8.1.2 with the following settings: Faster File Copying = ON; Use Faster Network Copy Protocol = ON; Use TCP/IP if Available = ON; Intercept Finder Apple Events = ON; Keep Speed Doubler 8 open = ON. These settings have allowed all users on my network to copy files to and from my server and retain the Virex Control Panel settings.

Speed Doubler 8.1.2 needs to be installed on both the server and the client computers, with these settings used on both machines.

December update In other Virex news, the Virex Virus Update 12_01_98 is out. It only works with Virex 5.9. (Thanks, David Ahrens.)
