The next Assassin's Creed game will have a distinctly piratical theme, according to Ubisoft, who released box art and the official name — Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag.

Earlier this week, images from the cover art had leaked like a ship that had been treated to a broadside cannonade.

Sadly, for the fans of seminal punk musical acts, the game will definitely involve high seas action, which isn't that surprising, given that a number of reviewers found the ship battle sequences of the last game to be the most successful and enjoyable elements of gameplay.

It also means that, unlike the rather lengthy adventures of Ezio, Ubisoft will be moving on quickly from Conner.

Presumably, Ubisoft will have more details soon.
