As the franchise turns 26, happy Zelda Day!

The Legend of Zelda hit store shelves on this day in 1986. Will you be celebrating?

Heroes of Hyrule, please lay down your swords and shields. Today marks Zelda Day, and that means it's time to embrace the Triforce!

For a quarter of a century, gamers have been playing versions of the hit franchise, which has come out in 18 iterations across 11 gaming systems, ranging from the original NES console to the Nintendo 3DS handheld. Despite selling more than 60 million copies, some might not familiar with the premise, which offers an elegant blend of adventure, action, and puzzles.

So, as today marks 26 years since Zelda hit store shelves, what's your favorite Zelda title (and/or moment in the game)? I'm currently playing The Minish Cap on an actual Game Boy Advance SP, and so far I find it neat that I can shrink down and explore a new miniature world normally reserved for insects.

We here at Crave would also love to see any Zelda art, costumes, or other related content you'd willing to share with us in the comments section or at crave at cnet dot com. If you don't have anything to share, then today is a good day to brush up on your Link drawing skills:
