ATTO card conflict confirmed by ATTO Rod Paine has had a problem getting the AppleShare IP Web & File Update 6.1.1 to work in Macs that use an ATTO ExpressPCI Pro DC SCSI card. ATTO tech support has now confirmed the problem. They wrote: "We have investigated the problem regarding ATTO's cards and AppleShare v6.1.1. We have confirmed that there is a conflict with our cards firmware and the AppleShare 6.1.1 update. Our engineers are currently investigating whether the instigator of the problem is our card's firmware or the software update issued by Apple. If it's our problem we will issue a fix as soon as possible. In the meantime we agree that the best course is to stick with v6.1. We apologize for the inconvenience and will work to resolve this issue as soon as possible."

AppleShare IP 6.1.1: plug-in glitch and a work-around John Holley describes a potential explanation for at least some of the previously reported problems getting the new AppleShare 6.1.1 update to work. He states that the problem occurs "if you have reserved too much memory for your plug-ins. If this happened in v. 6.1, you would get a message that said: 'One or more web plug-ins is using more memory than expected. Restart the server to avoid problems.' You can just ignore this and the server will still load fine in most situations. However, in 6.1.1, you get: 'There isn't enough memory for web plug-ins. Plug-ins will be disabled until the server restarts.' In both cases, the message is in the background, and if you use something like Okey Dokey then you might not see it." Decreasing the amount of memory reserved for plug-ins fixed this problem for him.
