Some users may find that after restoring their systems from a Time Machine backup, their Web filters--specifically Personal Web Sharing or Parental Controls--may not restart.

To restore functionality of the Personal Web Sharing and Parental Controls:

1. Open Terminal. If you are inexperienced with Terminal, these commands are fairly straightforward. The easiest way to complete this resolution is to copy (highlight the text and press Command C) the command and paste (make the Terminal window active and press Command V) to avoid inputting the code incorrectly. The Terminal application can be found in (Applications > Utilities).
2. Enter the following command and press return (Administrator's password may be required):
sudo mkdir /var/log
3. Enter the following command and press return (Administrator's password may be required):
sudo mkdir /var/log/apache2
4. After running these commands, toggle the services in System Preferences and/or restart your Mac.
Users of 10.5 Server may experience loss of Web, Mail, or Wiki services as well when restoring from a Time Machine backup. Read this Apple KB Article describing the Terminal commands to restore functionality of those services.
