Tiger facts
Mac OS X version 10.4 goes on sale Friday at events around the world, with--by Apple's count--more than 200 new features. The most significant: the Spotlight desktop search capability and the Dashboard, which provides access to information like weather forecasts and stock quotes.

• System requirements: Tiger requires a minimum of 256MB of memory and is designed to run on any Macintosh computer with a PowerPC G5, G4 or G3 processor and built-in FireWire.

• Desktop version: Priced at $129 for a single user license.

• Family pack: A single-residence, five-user license is available for $199.

• Server version: Priced at $499 for a 10-client edition and $999 for an unlimited-client edition. Current subscribers to the Apple Maintenance Program will receive Tiger Server as part of their service agreement.
