CNET staff

Apple has released Apple TV 2.0.2, a software update for the set-top digital media playback and purchase device. Although Apple's release notes indicate only that the update includes "bug fixes," initial information indicates that, specifically, having wide channels enabled on the 5 GHz spectrum with the Apple Extreme 802.11N networks no longer causes crashes or stuttering in media streaming to the Apple TV.

Users also report that overall wireless throughput for the Apple TV has been enhanced as a result of this update.

Finally, a users are reporting that scrolling through menus and navigation through other interface elements is faster after the update.

In order to apply this update, go to the main menu on your Apple TV and choose the Settings menu with the Apple Remote. Choose "Update Software."
