We're in the process of investigating these reports to better understand the issue. In the meantime, users may want to avoid the issue by not using these applications to read audio CDs on these PowerBook models."
Note: Two readers recently reported that this bug caused data corruption that resulted in a crash at startup and/or other serious symptoms with their drive. Happily, in both cases, they were able to fix the problem by using DiskWarrior (Disk First Aid was not sufficient).

Installing an internal Zip drive in G3/BW and G4 Macs An Apple TIL article (#58440) warns that, after installing an internal Iomega Zip drive on a Power Macintosh G3 (Blue & White) or G4, the computer may boot to a black screen. If it does, here's the explanation: The power cable is connected to the internal Zip drive before powering up the computer. If only the data cable is connected, the computer will boot to a black screen.
