We're one step closer to the iPhone 5.

Apple today took its online store down to prepare for today's event in San Francisco. The company is expected to unveil the iPhone 5 today at the Lam Research Theater at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco.

Tune in Wednesday starting at 9 a.m. PT for our Apple iPhone event live blog.

Apple typically takes its store offline whenever it holds such an event. And as with those previous events, the company hasn't shown its hand or indicated what it might unveil. But that hasn't stopped the rumor mill from speculating on everything from the iPhone 5 coming with a larger display to boasting 4G LTE service.

Luckily, the wait is almost over. CNET will kick off its live blog today at 9 a.m. PT in anticipation of the Apple event's 10 a.m. PT start time. Be sure to check back later on to see all of the news and highlights from the show.
