Audio Update needed for Final Cut Pro Apple TIL article #32083 states: "If you are using Mac OS 9 and Final Cut Pro 1.2.1 and you have Virtual Memory turned on, you may notice sluggish performance when performing common tasks such as basic editing. If you intend to use Virtual Memory while using Final Cut Pro, Apple recommends that you install Mac OS Audio Update 1.1, which addresses this issue."

FireWire update already installed in Mac OS 9 on iMacs Based on several reader reports, and our own checking, it appears that the FireWire Support and FireWire Enabler extensions installed by FireWire 2.2.2 Update are the same as those that already come with the iMac DV (shipping with Mac OS 9 pre-installed). Also, when I did the install the FireWire CardBus Enabler (only needed for Newer's FireWire 2 Go card) was not installed on my iMac. This is probably correct, as it is only needed for PowerBooks.

Airports and AirPort Michael Donegan claims that sending his AirPort Base Station through an airport X-ray machine resulted in his password being wiped-out. That is, his password was no longer recognized when he tried to login. He had to reset the BaseStation firmware to get it working again.

DVD-ROM Update problem? A work-around We received a couple of reports of users unable to mount CDs and/or DVDs after installing the DVD-ROM Update 1.0. I did not have this problem on my iMac DV SE and can offer no explanation at present for those that do. However, Richard Brock claims that a work-around is to have a CD inserted at startup. It will mount and all subsequently inserted discs will mount as well. There is some discussion of this in the MacFixIt Forums (see this thread). One posting suggests that additionally installing the Audio Update might help here.

Apple Guide and CorelDRAW Marcus Harner found that Apple Guide 2.0 (a pre-8.6 version of the software) was preventing CorelDRAW 8 from launching (he kept getting a Type 3 error). Removing the extension eliminated the problem.
