Apple Computer on Tuesday scheduled its annual Worldwide Developer Conference for Aug. 7-11 in San Francisco. Apple is pitching the event as, among other things, a good place for developers to optimize their software to run on Intel-based Macs.

CEO Steve Jobs noted last week that Apple has now moved more than half its product line to Intel-based Macs. Apple used last year's gathering to announce the move to Intel processors.
