Apple rolls out first update for new MacBook Pros
The new MacBook Pros are less than a day old, yet they've already got their first update waiting for them.
Those of you who've managed to score one of the new MacBook Pros have your first update to install.
Available for download on Apple's Web site, the MacBook Pro (Mid 2012) Software Update 1.0 includes fixes that "improve graphics stability, external display support, and USB 3.0 device support" and is recommended for all the mid-2012 MacBook Pro models launched at yesterday's Worldwide Developers Conference.
The new 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro models received beefier specs in the form of the Ivy Bridge processor, higher-end graphics, and more hard drive options. The screen resolution remains the same, as do the prices.
But Apple saved its hottest features for the new 15-inch Retina Display MacBook Pro.
The Retina Display offers a resolution of 2,880 x 1,800 pixels, considered the highest resolution on the market, certainly among 15-inch notebooks.
The new MacBook Pro is also thinner, measuring less than three-quarters of an inch in height. Add to that such options as an Ivy Bridge Core i7 processor, high-end graphics, up to 16GB of memory, and a speedy 768GB solid-state drive, and you've got a laptop that sells for anywhere from $2,199 to $2,799.
