Apple has released a teaser trailer for the Mac Pro, and announced it'll be on sale in the autumn.

Remember the mental-looking Mac Pro that Apple announced in June? The one that looks like Darth Vader's dustbin? Well Apple has just released a teaser trailer for it, and said it'll be out this autumn.

It's a pretty bombastic ad, focusing on close-ups of the curvaceous casing to a rock soundtrack. I've embedded it, so you can take a look for yourself.

I know, not exactly full of info is it. Though it does tell us to expect the desktop to land this fall, which is American for autumn. Apple is rumoured to be launching its next iPhone on 10 September, but it usually keeps its handset events completely separate from its laptop and desktop ones.

The Mac Pro stands just 9.9 inches tall and 6.6 inches across. There's one fan in the top, and that's it. That should mean it runs much quieter than traditional desktops with cooling fans.

That doesn't mean it scrimps on the power though. Inside is the Intel Xeon E5 chipset, and you can have up to 12-cores of processing grunt at your disposal. It also has dual graphics processors, with up to 6GB of dedicated VRAM, and PCIe flash storage.

It supports up to three 4K displays, which would be quite an overload for the eyeballs. There are plenty of HDMI 1.4 and USB 3 ports, and Thunderbolt 2 connections let you daisy-chain up to 36 devices. Spin the Mac Pro around, and it'll light up the socket panel so you can find the right port. Handy.

It has two Gigabit Ethernet ports, or if you want to go wireless it supports 802.11ac Wi-Fi, as well as Bluetooth 4.0.

Will you be adding the Mac Pro to your shopping list? I'm sure it won't be cheap, but how much would you be willing to pay for it? Let me know in the comments, or on our Facebook page.
