Apple has released an update to iPhoto which addresses a problem with importing photos from previous versions of iPhoto that could cause the program to become unstable and crash. In addition, it corrects problems with points of interest and locations being labeled incorrectly.

The update weighs in at 103MB and should be available in Software Update for people with iPhoto installed, but can also be downloaded at this Apple downloads webpage: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/application_updates/iphoto804update.html

Apple recommends this update for all iPhoto users, which means that despite it being discussed as a bug in the importing or updating process, it could still crop up in the future for users who have not yet experienced it.
