Apple has posted the first Knowledge Base document for Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard), detailing the system requirements for iChat. Some of the requirements are surprisingly steep.

There are good (160-by-120 pixel), better (320-by-240 pixel) and best (640-by-480 pixel) settings. For 1-to-1 video conferencing, the good mode works with all Leopard-compatible Macs. For the better mode, a 1.8 GHz G5, or 1.66 GHz Intel Core Duo is required. For best, a 1.83 Intel Core Duo or a Dual 2 GHz G5 is required.

For 4-way video conferencing, there are good (80-by-60 pixel), better (160-by-120) and best (320-by-240) settings. Good requires Dual 1 GHz G4, G5, or any Intel-based Mac; better a Dual 1 GHz G4, 1.8 GHz G5 or 1.66 GHz Intel Core Duo; and best a Dual 2 GHz G5 or 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo.

There are also requirements listed for Photobooth Effects, Screen Sharing, AV recording, and iChat theater.
