Apple posts Backup 1.2.3 after pulling 1.2.2 release

CNET staff

Apple has released a new version of the Backup component of .Mac, apparently addressing some issues first noted here on MacFixIt.

Late last month, Apple pulled an update to the Backup, version 1.2.2, after several readers reported that the new release disengaged support for third-party external drives. At the time, version 1.2.2 was replaced with version 1.2.1.

While release notes are not yet available, it appears that the new release does not restore support for third-party drives.
