Apple launches new Power Macs, 20" flat-panel display

Apple has debuted new Power Macs with dual processors running at up to 1.42 GHz, as well as a new sub-$1300 20.1 inch flat-panel display.

The new Power Macs a choice of a single 1 GHz, dual 1.25 GHz or dual 1.42 GHz PowerPC G4 processors with prices ranging from $ 1,499 (US) to $ 2,699 (US). The systems also feature FireWire 800 and have internal support for 54Mbps AirPort Extreme and Bluetooth wireless networking.

The 1.42 GHz and 1.25 GHz models include DDR Level 3 cache 333 MHz DDR memory, with the single-processor 1 GHz system offering 266 MHz memory.

The single 1 GHz Power Mac G4, for a suggested retail price of $ 1,499 (US), and dual 1.25 GHz Power Mac G4, for a suggested retail price of $ 1,999 (US), are available now. The dual 1.42 GHz Power Mac G4, for a suggested retail price of $2,699 (US) will be available starting next month.

Sized at 20.1 inches, the new Apple Cinema Display offers 1680-by-1050 pixel resolution and is less than two inches thick. It is priced at $1299. Apple also cut the price on 23-inch Cinema HD Display - with 1920-by-1200 pixel resolution - from $ 3,499 (US) to $ 1,999 (US). The 17" Studio Display, providing 1280-by-1024 pixels, has been cut from $ 999 (US) to $ 699 (US).
