Apple has posted more info about the recent -- and much appreciated -- changes to the Knowledge Base that we discussed yesterday. From Apple's site:

"AppleCare has launched Knowledge Base 3.0, a major upgrade to the existing knowledge base. Among the improvements are:

  • An improved default search, called Smart Search in both Assisted and Expert search screens.
  • A new Boolean search option in the Expert Search page, providing the ability to use AND, OR, NEAR operators as well as parantheses.
  • A Title Search option in the Expert Search page.
  • Personal Support Pages - the ability to save up to 100 documents, 20 searches, and relevant software downloads, recent documents, FAQs, Discussion links and more all set from product preferences in your personal profile.
  • Ability to set default search page (assisted, expert, personal support page) as well as results lists (number of documents, title only, title and synopsis.

In addition, they have posted a tutorial on how to use the Knowledge Base and its new features. We applaud Apple for all the KB changes; they are an excellent addition to a troubleshooter's toolkit. (Thanks, Mike Kincaid.)
