Apple recently acquired Proximity, a video-editing software development company, according to Proximity's Web site.

An Apple representative confirmed the deal but declined to comment on the details of the acquisition. Proximity's main product is a piece of workflow management software called Artbox, which helps video editors and producers search and manage their content.

Proximity's software would ostensibly get folded into Apple's video-editing products, such as Final Cut Pro, but the company isn't talking about its plans for the technology.
